How to Pierce Your Nipple at Home
Piercing your own nipples is a risky business unless you’re a piercing professional who really knows what they’re doing. It’s a procedure that’s painful to begin with and can also lead to a really nasty infection if done improperly. Nonetheless, if you’re comfortable with the idea and bound and determined to go through with it, here’s what you’ll need to do.
First, make sure that your piercing equipment is sterile. Hold the piercing needle in a flame for a few minutes, then place the needle into alcohol to disinfect it. Let the needle sit for a while before you do the piercing—this will greatly lower the risk of infection.
Next, you’ll want your nipple to be as erect as you can get it prior to piercing. Stroke and massage it for a while, then apply an ice cube to your nipple and hold it in place for a minute or so. Not only will this get your nipple erect, but it’ll also slightly numb your nipple, helping to dull the sensation of the piercing. No, it’s not going to be painless, but even taking a little bit of the edge off the pain is a good thing.
Now for the actual piercing. While holding the nipple in place, push the needle through in a straight line. You might want to have a friend help you with this part; it can be fairly awkward if you’re trying to do it on your own. As soon as you’ve completed your piercing, remove the needle and put the nipple jewelry you’ve selected into the fresh piercing right away.
You’ll want to put some gauze over your nipple and put pressure on to control the bleeding after you’ve done this. Keep the pierced area clean and disinfected and remove your nipple jewelry and see a doctor at once if there’s any indication of infection.
Nipple piercing is best left to professionals, but if you’re going to do it yourself, the preceding instructions give you some measure of safety. Good luck and enjoy your new nipple jewelry.
